Why is this xenophobic behavior so standard here? Fort Worth natives especially feel entitled to treat men who respectfully approach them like they're dirt. In Boston, a guy can go out by himself and become part of a group in no time. I spent years doing it. Same thing in DC. I've spent a combined 9 dating-years in those two towns alone. Women here require so much context to the introduction that it makes them almost impossible to approach with any dignity. I've also heard Fort Worth women say that men don't ever approach them. It doesn't stop me, and the ones I have successfully met all began speaking to me with amazing contempt. I've just persevered through it. For those of you who have never lived in another place (and cities in Texas don't count--the cultures are too similar), this is not normal. News flash-- and immediately got a girlfriend. We broke up a year ago this month, and with the breakup, I lost most of the friends we had, since they were mostly hers to begin with, which I think is totally standard and fair incidentally. As much as I go out, I can honestly say I've met far too few people to disagree with the "cliquish" girl.
I'm highly educated, with masters degrees from two of the best schools on the east coast. I'm 35, good looking, in good shape, and make a great living. I dress nicely, I'm athletic, and I have polish and sophisticated demeanor. More importantly, I'm completely hilarious, self-deprecating, and confident.
